NOTES:

While not much is known about this cassette tape (dated 1992) and the people who created it - no information exists anywhere on the internet as I am writing this - it is safe to say that it is the very False Prophets us 80ies non-conformist punk rock fans would hope for, the band who created such off-the-beaten-track works as „Implosion“ or the unnamed first LP [both released on Alternative Tentacles]. Not only the band logo included but also the distinctive singing style of Stephan Ielpi are proof of that. According to the information given by the tape’s pre-owner, Debra DeSalvo would also have participated in the making of it, but this cannot be verified. All the information given on the tape itself are the tracklist, the NYC studio it was recorded at (TWIST, 263 East Tenth Str.), contact information, and the year (1992).

Musically the tracks are still hard & punky on side A, while the 3 tracks on side B are slightly more musically moderate altogether, and have and an almost folky feel about them, which by no means makes them less rebellious with their ever-present infinite sadness. Plus it seems that a lady takes over more vocal duties. Great and highly original music altogether, delivered with the usual strong message (the b/w cover artwork shows a bunch of people of all ages and sexes and a dog making a stand against war in that they oppose a tank carrying the star spangled banner by holding up enormous brass instruments, thus suggesting that they can be stopped if only we act together), but my guess is it simply was not generic enough to have been picked up by anyone, which is why it has never seen the light of day by way of a proper „commercial“ release (which I would l really like to see). Maybe with the keyboard a little more in the background...

Musically the tracks are in fact so different on side A in comparison to side B that I should think they must originate in different eras, if not even have been conceived by entirely different personnel. This could also be backed by the fact that the four tracks of side A have a serious left channel problem with it hardly existing at all, while side B is actually flawless soundwise.
