From 1988 onwards (if it wasn't like that even before that), demos seem to be best described as "work in progress" demos.
First thing I got my hands on was the digital copy of a demo that consisted of 2 tracks (see below), then I came across an "original"
demo distributed by Metal Blade records under the title "C.O.C. Demo 1989 Reed Vox" with 4 tracks. In addition to the two tracks it seems
to have had at first, the demo now also included an unidentified instrumental track pretty much in the "Animosity" vein plus a "no vocals"
version of the already decidedly more metal style "Buried". But the most "stable"of all versions of the demo that the band settled for later on
(by adding it as a bonus to the "Blind Demo 1991") appears to be a three track one, consisting of "Buried" (listed first, even though it was
written after the other tracks) plus "The Line Of Fire" and "Teach Me (Teacher). So "Buried" must have been the starting point for the
"Blind Demo 1991" which became the first demo I know of with a tracklist "fixed" on a professionally printed cover (in fact there
were two completely different covers, se below), or so I thought, because this didn't keep the band from adding "Buried",
now with vocals, as an unlisted bonus. And here are the details:

NOTES: I acquired this one some time ago, only to find out that it does
not only include an instrumental version of "Buried", but also a yet unidentified
and to my knowledge unreleased instrumental pretty much in the "Animosity"
vein - what a find! This demo, however, for me perfectly captures the moment
itself when C.O.C. turned from something particularly good into something,
well, not quite so good anymore (at least from the point of view of the
die-hard crossover fan of the"Animosity" and "Technocracy" era
that I am). Particularly the track "Buried" already "heavily"
testifies to this... But alas, good to know at last who was
singing on this historical (or was it hysterical?)
document! For way too long I thought
it was Simon "Bob" Sinister...
On yet an another formidable and most
underrated track, "Bound (Try to Understand)"
as released on the "Rat Music For Rat People"
compilation in 1987, we can now [early 2017]
be positive that it was indeed Simon Bob
singing, as he just confirmed this to
me in person! Thank you!!

NOTES: COC seem to be back ("The classic 3 piece of Woodroe, Mike, and
Reed will be touring and performing songs from Animosity, Technocracy and some
NEW stuff!"), but are they back for good? The old songs sound really good live, only I'm
not yet perfectly sure about the new stuff. With it being heavily influenced in parts by the band's-
all-time-faves Sack Blabbath and basically heavier/faster stuff pretty much in the vain of earlier, more
crossover COC for the rest, it will be interesting to hear what the new studio recordings sound like
and what general feel they have. As all current members already announced that they would
like to add Pepper Keenan to the band if possible, I'm again not sure where the journey will
go to. Since I very much liked the era with Bob, my personal wish would be to once
more add him to the line-up. But I guess that just me dreaming useless things...
But damn it, "Bound", "Teach Me [Teacher | track title confirmed!]", "The Line
Of Fire" and "Fingers With Teeth" [track title confirmed!] were among the
best songs of the band ever! Unfortunately most of them remain unre-
corded or at least unreleased to this very day. What a pity...
